Austria is a country devoid continental landlocked. Bordered by Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Austria is situated in a central area which was historically an important cultural crossroads between the Germanic world, the Latin world and the Slav. 70% of the territory is mountainous and 40% of this is over 1,000 meti altitude. Most of the territory is occupied by the Alps and is crossed by the Danube, the only major navigable river that O to E is a great river road. The climate is influenced by the findings and therefore has a continental character. Economic development was influenced by two major world wars and the real economic take-off is starting in 1955 thanks to expansion in the industrial sector.
